E-mail module: Send and receive electronic mail as a single user, or
install 4D Appbuilder Pro on 4D Server and create a cross-platform, multi-user
E-mail environment.
This module is based on the powerful
"EM4D" example from 4D Inc. (our sincere Thanks to 4D Inc. and
Dave Batton!). Building on that example, we have added several
enhancements:
- The email list is a subform -- instead
of picture arrays -- which dramatically improves performance.
- Like all list views in 4D Appbuilder Pro, the subform supports command-click and
shift-click highlights.
- The message content display area is a 4D
Write document, which gives us the ability to show incoming HTML
messages in our e-mail client.
- The outgoing message window is a 4D WriteTM
document, which means we can embed fields from 4D tables; it also
means that the user can create re-usable Email Templates.
- The Subject sort includes threading: messages
that begin with the phrase "Re: " will stay
together with other messages in the same thread.
